Preparing for launch
My campaign management hat has been firmly on, preparing two campaigns for two different clients.
After over fifteen years of managing marketing campaigns, I still find the ‘campaign launch imminent’ the most fun and invigorating stage of the project. Tying up loose ends, checking the task list and getting everything in the best place possible before it goes out in the world.
So this week has been getting a website updated ahead of a month-long campaign in September, as well as website content, social media, stakeholder engagement and preparing for everything that's within our control before the live date on 5 September.
While the other campaign has been slightly lower-key regarding reach and profile, it's been all hands on deck to get a campaign for trustee recruitment ready. Lots of copywriting, checking in with the client and ‘owning’ the project to ensure collateral, web updates, stakeholder briefing notes, and ensuring everyone directly involved is clear on what to do for the final push to get everything live.
I’ve learnt from experience that a mix of project plans, tools such as Trello or Basecamp and regular communication gets everything in good shape, but that it’s always sensible to leave some room for flex and adjustment rather than try and control absolutely everything. That way, when things don't go to plan, or deadlines aren’t met for whatever reason, the campaign and performance aren’t negatively affected and being agile allows for even greater potential campaign performance.
The combination of pragmatism, organisation and the ability to flex has been my go-to approach to campaign management after many learnings during the hundreds of marketing and communications campaigns I’ve managed or delivered.
Next week is about snagging, refining final content, and hitting the big red Go Live button. Going to be busy!
Other highlights this week
First of two in-person Strategy sessions with Community First Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Involved some great ‘voluntary sector’ bingo — stamping out over-used terms like ‘resilience’, ‘sustainable’ and ‘thriving’ to create a more meaningful and clear vision and strategy.
Finalising content, including new patient-facing resources, updated website and social media plan with Viki Lewis for HBA Support before Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month in September.
Getting information packs and adverts ready for a trustee recruitment campaign for Community First, going live on Tuesday
Non-work stuff
Monday was recovery day after a fantastic time at Green Man Festival. So many great acts, plus a lot of time in the craft beer tent with my closest friend.
Coffee / gossip / catch up with a friend this morning. It’s been two and a half years since I left London and moved back to the shire, so I feel really lucky that I now have a great social network here, not something to be taken for granted.
Catching up on sleep ahead of a busy couple of weeks!
