FINE FURNITURE CARE
New items of furniture may experience some movement of door
panels, mouldings, table skirts or drawers as they acclimatise
to their new surroundings but this is quite normal.
The natural moisture content of wood is approximately 10-14% and
it is advisable to ensure that the moisture content of the room
remains within
these levels.
We recommend that plants or a small bowl of water are placed in
the room with your furniture to release helpful amounts of
moisture into the atmosphere and where necessary the use of a
humidifier.
Weekly
-
Remove surface dust from your bespoke furniture with a dry
duster.
Every three months --
Apply wax sparingly with a soft white cloth to your bespoke
furniture, going with the grain, to a small area at a time.
Never use a circular motion. Continue to buff with the grain
until the wax is absorbed and a low
shine is achieved.
HELPFUL HINTS
•• Avoid placing your fine English furniture in direct sunlight.
• Never position your bespoke furniture directly against a heat
source, such as a radiator.
• Avoid leaving your furniture in an enclosed centrally-heated
room for long periods of time without ensuring adequate
humidity.
• If a floral arrangement is in use, place it on a coaster,
never directly onto the bespoke furniture's wooden surface.
• Allow your dining table to breathe by removing the table forks
from time to time.
• If a spillage of water, alcohol or perfume occurs, wipe off
the wooden surface immediately*.
Do not allow it to stand.
*Do not use a damp or wet cloth when wiping the wooden table.
